</>What does Trail Blazer (Faster Travel, Fewer Ambushes) do?
A Kingmaker campaign involves a lot of walking. Trips between the barony and the far corners of the Stolen Lands take real minutes of watching a pawn inch across a map, and they take in-game days your kingdom would rather you spent at home. Trail Blazer gives you a dial for that. Set Travel Speed anywhere from one to ten and flick on Faster World Travel, and your party crosses the map that many times quicker. Because the game counts the days by the distance you cover, the trip also spends a matching fraction of them, so a trek that used to burn a week can be over in a day or two. Usually that is a gift, since it leaves more calendar for your projects and quest deadlines. If you are deliberately racing a timer, pick your number with that in mind. Skip Road Ambushes turns off the random encounters that interrupt a journey. Flip it on and those roadside interruptions simply stop happening, so you get from A to B without three wolf packs in between. Encounters that belong to the story still trigger normally, so you will not walk past anything the plot needs you to see. Nothing here is written into your save. Turn the mod off and travel goes straight back to normal speed with the usual ambush chance, exactly as if the mod had never been there.
</>What is Trail Blazer (Faster Travel, Fewer Ambushes)?
A Kingmaker campaign involves a lot of walking, and trips across the Stolen Lands cost both real minutes and in-game days your kingdom would rather you spent at home. Trail Blazer gives you a travel speed dial from one to ten plus a switch that stops random road ambushes, while story encounters still trigger normally. Because the game counts the days by the distance you cover, a quicker trip also spends fewer of them, which is usually a gift and worth a thought if you are racing a timer. Free on ProjectMods.
</>Common questions about Trail Blazer (Faster Travel, Fewer Ambushes)
What does Trail Blazer do in Pathfinder: Kingmaker?
Trail Blazer speeds up overland travel in Pathfinder: Kingmaker and takes the random interruptions out of it. Switch on Faster World Travel, set the Travel Speed dial anywhere from one to ten, and your party crosses the world map that many times quicker. Skip Road Ambushes stops the random encounters that interrupt a journey from happening, so you get from one end of the Stolen Lands to the other without three wolf packs in between. Nothing is written into your save, so turning the mod off restores normal travel exactly.
Does faster travel also use fewer in-game days?
Yes, and this is the part to think about before you set the dial. Pathfinder: Kingmaker works out the date from the distance your party covers, so travelling three times faster also costs roughly a third of the in-game days. A trek that used to burn a week can be over in a day or two. That is usually a gift, since it leaves more calendar for kingdom projects and quest deadlines, but if you are deliberately racing something or waiting on a timer, pick your multiplier with that side effect in mind.
Does Skip Road Ambushes remove story encounters too?
No. Skip Road Ambushes stops the random roll that drops ambushes on you during Pathfinder: Kingmaker world map journeys, but encounters that belong to the story still trigger exactly when they are meant to, so you will not walk past anything the plot needs you to see. What disappears is the filler, meaning the wolf packs and bandit groups that interrupt a long trip without adding anything you have not already fought a dozen times. Turn the switch off and the usual ambush chance comes straight back on your next journey.
What travel speed should I use?
Three is the comfortable default for most Pathfinder: Kingmaker runs, because journeys stop dragging without the map turning into a blur, and the reduction in in-game days stays modest. Push it towards ten if the Stolen Lands are simply too big for the evening you have and you want the travel portion of the game gone entirely. Faster World Travel is the master switch for the dial, so you can flip it off to return to normal pace instantly without losing your chosen number, then flip it back on for the next long haul.
Why use Trail Blazer alongside the kingdom mods?
Because travel time and kingdom time are the same resource in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Every day spent walking across the Stolen Lands is a day your barony's projects and quest deadlines keep ticking through, which is why long expeditions so often come back to bad news waiting at the throne room. Trail Blazer cuts both the real minutes and the in-game days a journey costs, so you can actually afford the detour. It sits well next to Red Tape Cutter and No Deadlines, which attack the same problem from the calendar side.
What options does Trail Blazer (Faster Travel, Fewer Ambushes) include?
Skip Road Ambushes
Random ambushes stop interrupting your journeys across the world map. Encounters that belong to the story still happen, so nothing important gets skipped.
Faster World Travel
Master switch for the speed dial below. Turn it on and your party moves across the world map at the multiplier you picked. Turn it off and travel goes back to its normal pace immediately.
Travel Speed
How many times faster your party crosses the map. 3 is a comfortable default. The journey also costs that same fraction of in-game days, so a long haul eats far less of the calendar as well as far less of your evening.
Trail Blazer, a Pathfinder: Kingmaker mod on ProjectMods, speeds up world map travel by up to ten times and switches off random road ambushes, so long journeys cost far less of your evening and far fewer in-game days.
